Description

Rattray’s Devil’s Cut (130) is a stout, barrel-inspired Poker crafted from olivewood with a brushed finish and distinctive beadline detailing. Its reverse Calabash design incorporates an internal cooling chamber within the muscular shank, while the 9mm filter system and acrylic stem complete this substantial, character-filled pipe.

Detailed Description

“The Devil’s Cut” refers to the portion of whisky absorbed into the wood of a barrel during aging, and Rattray’s carries that theme directly into the bold proportions of this distinctive pipe.

The 130 shape is a substantial Poker with a tall, barrel-like bowl accented by horizontal beadlines that reinforce its coopered-cask appearance. This edition is fashioned from olivewood, whose naturally light coloring and lively grain give the pipe a wonderfully rustic character. A brushed finish adds texture while allowing the individual patterns of the wood to remain visible.

Beyond its memorable appearance, the Devil’s Cut features reverse Calabash engineering. The oversized shank contains an expanded internal chamber designed to give smoke additional space to cool and settle before reaching the stem. Combined with its generous dimensions and 9mm filter capability, the result is a pipe designed around a slow, relaxed smoking experience.

A contrasting accent band and black acrylic stem provide a handsome finish to the pale olivewood, creating a pipe that feels simultaneously rustic, unconventional, and distinctly Rattray’s.

For the smoker who enjoys substantial pipes, unusual engineering, and designs with a story behind them, the Devil’s Cut is quite difficult to mistake for anything else.

FAQs

What is special about the Rattray’s Devil’s Cut pipe? ▼
The Devil’s Cut combines a whisky-barrel-inspired Poker shape with reverse Calabash engineering. An enlarged chamber inside the shank gives the smoke additional space to cool before traveling through the stem.
Why is it called the Devil’s Cut? ▼
In whisky production, the “Devil’s Cut” refers to the portion of spirit absorbed into the barrel itself during aging. Rattray’s plays on that idea with a pipe whose stout proportions and decorative beadlines resemble a small whisky barrel.
Does the Rattray’s Devil’s Cut 130 use a filter? ▼
Yes. This model is designed to accept 9mm filters.
