Today in the Vale, I revisit Awakened Elder to answer a question some Vale Companions have asked: Awakened Elder or From Beyond? After several recent bowls of From Beyond, I wanted to refresh my memory and compare the flavors of these two powerhouse blends from Cornell & Diehl’s Old Ones Series. Awakened Elder is a rich and exotic mix of Latakia, Katsuri, Virginias, Burley, Perique, and Black Cavendish. The tin describes it best: “After centuries of undisturbed slumber, something has awakened them. In their return, a great plume of exotic smoke rises from the Deep…” This blend fills the room beautifully and easily stands in the top half of the seven Old Ones blends.
